Birman Cats

Cats are one of most loving and favored kinds of pets. Most of us are fond of the puffy bushy cat that becomes an important member of our family. Among the sweetest breeds of cats are the Birman cats. They are a domestic breed and have interesting body features. Generally, the distinctive features of the Birman cats are their pale appearance and their bright blue eyes. As far as their origin is concerned, they are said to have come from the western part of Burma and from Thailand as well. Whatever their origin might be, they are strikingly attractive looking and most of the times are considered as the favorite pet cats.
One interesting fact about these Birman cats is that they have different appearances and are found in different colors and styles. Some of the common colors of Birman cats are golden, white, and eggshell. Another attractive feature of their bodies is their cozy bushy fur and cute small ears. They have spots all over their bodies. Cream, seal, red, chocolate and lilac are some of the most usual spot colors. Another unusual feature of Birman cats is their ‘gloves’ on each paw which are quite symmetrical on all their four feet. Generally, their fingers are white, but there is no trace of white spot on any other part of their body. Their coat is of medium-length and they do not have a long thick tail like that of the Persians.
If you have one of those naughty yet sweet cats of Birman breed, you should also know the ‘take care’ methods of these types of cats. Most commonly they are jovial in nature and are sufficiently domestic. To tame them is not very difficult. In fact, they can be your greatest companions at times. Birman cats create great affinity with their owners.
Generally, these cats are quite strong and if you take a little care of them, they can live a long life of up to 15 years. However, it is absolutely necessary to take proper dental care of the Birman cats since they have a tendency to catch plaques faster. Therefore, it is advisable to clean their plaque at least once a week with toothbrush, or even a soft cloth especially made for the cats. Avoid using tooth brush and paste meant for man as it can damage the cat’s teeth and even make your cat sick. Also, take care to shape and cleanse the nails of your Birman cats as unclear nails can spread various types of infection that can be harmful both for the cats and your family members. Besides, unshaped nails can also harm your furniture, cushions, and pillows. Therefore, nail trimming is important if you have got a Birman cat at your place. Indeed, trimming of nails should be started right from the early age of the kittens to get them used to it. A regular visit to the veterinarian is recommended for a healthy long life of your cat. Sometimes, cats become victims of certain domestic diseases and fatal leukemia as well. Therefore, a regular check up is essential at least once a year.
