Ojos Azules

Cats are perhaps the most popular species of domestic pets. All over the world, petting cats is a great trend among many people. They are not only cuddly but are sufficiently intelligent and strong. Normally, cats are fun loving and love the company of humans. They are quite playful and joyous in nature. One of the lesser known breeds of cats is the Ojos Azules. Ojos Azules is comparatively a new breed of domestic cat. They have been discovered recently. No wonder, they are considered an extremely rare breed of cats. It was only in the 1980s that the first ever Ojos Azules cats were discovered with their striking blue eyes. Their registration was accepted by TICA in 1991.

The Ojos Azules is calm and quiet in nature and is very close to the environment of its owner. One of the most interesting features of these cats is their sapphire blue eyes. In fact, the word Ojos Azules, means ‘Blue Eyes’. Ojos Azules have large roughly rounded eyes. Although the common colors of their eyes are dark, they are green, gray, gold and copper at times.

Generally these cats have dark coats and most of the times they are bi-coated. They have a sweet little curly tail and often have a flattened tail-tip. Normally the heads of these cats are like an equilateral triangle. In addition to this, they have a slightly rounded forehead and angular muzzles. Their chin is neither prominent nor receding.

Commonly, they have a medium body size that is neither too short nor too long. Another interesting feature of their body happens to be their legs, their paws and their hind legs. Their hinder legs are little longer than their fore legs and their paws are small. So far as the coat of these cats is concerned, they generally do not have brilliant white coats.

Although the Ojos Azules are a rare group of cats, their habits are quite nice as compared to their fellow cat species in general. In most of the cases, cats of this breed are accustomed to domestic life. They begin to like the cool comfort of domesticity and resent being taken out of it. Most of them are quite obedient to their owners and can follow their instructions effortlessly. These cats are intelligent and are able to defend themselves from any possible threat of life. Most of these cats are fond of fish and meat.

However, they can also be tamed and trained quite nicely in vegetarian homes. Also, the owners need not worry much about their physical upkeep because they need very little grooming. This is because their coat is soft and tight, which makes their skin glow all the time. They have a virtually trouble-free coat. However, they need some care when it comes to maintaining their teeth. Researches reveal that cats’ teeth tend to capture cavity and plaque quite easily. Therefore, it is advisable for the owners of Ojos Azules to take proper care of their teeth so that they are not damaged prematurely.
