Pixiebob Cat

There are interesting legends associated with the Pixiebob cats. The founder, Carol Ann Brewer proclaimed the breed as ‘legend cats’. However, no verifiable proof is found to support the fact. According to Brewer, the breed is a result of mating, which occurred naturally between a feral or barn cat and an American Bobcat. However, the DNA test does not prove this. Pixiebob cats, however, are established as a new breed in the cat family.
Pixiebob cat shares many physical and behavioral characteristics with bob cats. However, the size is almost half of a bob cat and it is not wild in nature like bob cats. Bob cats are not domestic, but Pixiebobs behave completely like a domestic cat. A cat will be recognized as a Pixiebob cat only when one of the parents will have a relation to pixie, the cat.
These cats are generally larger in size than a normal domestic cat. They are almost 50% bigger in size and the basic physical characteristic of a pixie bob cat is the black fur on the body and white fur around eyes. They have skin on the base of their paws. These cats have tipped ears and heavy hair around the ears. The color of lips and eye skin is black. They have white fur on their chins, but the color of the skin is generally black.
Pixiebob cats have fur patterns similar to the fur patterns of the tiger; it has a reddish tone with broken stripes found on the stomach which are generally reddish-gold in color. Most of the pixie bobs are short-haired, but some of them are also long-haired. They have almond-shaped eyes which are tilted and the eye color changes with age. Most of the kittens have blue eye-balls, which changes to green, and finally it becomes golden after several months. There are three types of tails found among the Pixiebob cats. They can have rumpy tail or 2-4 inches long tail or a short tail. They normally have a pear-shaped head.
Pixie bobs are highly social, active and intelligent by nature. They enjoy playing with other animals. They like to chirp and chatter and growl but do not like to meow. They mostly communicate by “chirping” and sometimes it sounds like purring. Most of the Pixiebobs are highly sociable with their owners as well as with the outsiders. However, there are some of them that behave in an introverted manner around strangers. They are nagging in nature and like to stay in the same room as the owner. Unlike the dogs, they like to follow their owners around the residence. They like to play with balls and moving things around.
There is no special recommendation of diet for Pixiebob cats. They feed on normal food like all other pet cats. The Pixie bob cats are considered the best domestic pets. Though they crave for attention all the time, they can behave like a social being if they are trained properly.
