If you are looking for some new breed of cats, you may go in for the Serengeti breed. It is one of the relatively new breeds of exotic cats. Again, if you are interested in the wild lives or you like wild looking things, and if you are fond of cats, having a Serengeti cat as your pet in your house is a must for you. If you have more queries about the nature, character and general features of this cat, go through the page.
The development of this new breed of cat dates back to the year 1994. Twenty years before this development, the development of the Bengal Cat and the Jean Sudgen Mills had begun. The Bengal Cats and the Oriental Shorthair Cats were used for the creation of this breed of cat. This breed is almost as popular as the Serval cats, Safari cats and the Savannah cats. There are many people who are immensely fond of their pet Serengeti cats.
Serengeti cats are generally large boned and long legged. The mystery is that it looks like a domestic cat that has much in resemblance with the Serval of the African wild cats, though no Serval cats have ever been used for the creation of this cat. These cats have large ears rounded on the end. The ears look amazingly lovely since they seem to be placed directly on top of the skull. The black backs and the ‘eye spots’ of the upright ears add to the beauty of these cats. The eyes of these cats are gold, amber or even green. The male Serengeti cats weigh 10 to 15 pounds while the female cats weigh between 8 and 12 pounds.
So far as the habits and temperament of the Serengeti cats are concerned, they have been characterized by their open-minded approach, self-assured character and friendly nature. They are of such flexible nature that they can get along happily with other pets if they are introduced properly. They are very playful and jolly. They love to climb. They are also fond of playing with toys. It is really worth seeing them enjoy their game with toys. They are even vocal at times. They are, however, not so much vocal as their oriental ancestors are.
It can be guaranteed that if you become the master or the mistress of a Serengeti cat, you are sure to have lots of topics to share with your pals. You may spend hours together speaking of your pet Serengeti cat with your friends if they happen to be cat lovers. Their playful and lively activities will be your favorite pastime. These cats are registered with The International Cat Association as cats of a developing breed. So there would be a different standard for judging these cats if you take them to appear in cat shows. Since they are registered as developing breed of cat, they can be brought to the cat shows only for evaluation.
