Snowshoe

This breed came into being during the 1960s as a result of the cross breeding between the bi-colored American Shorthair and the Siamese. The cross breeding took place in the United States of America. 

The Snowshoe cats are of different sizes. They are generally tiny. That does not, of course, mean that all the cats of this breed are tiny in size. There are also some medium-sized Snowshoe cats. The general stature of these cats is lean as well as muscular. The ACFA has described it as appearing to be with a great power and agility while, in reality, they pose to be good runners instead of being good weight lifters.

The appearance of the Snowshoe cats is pleasant, if not very beautiful. The ears of these cats are large and of a triangular shape. Their head is often triangular and sometimes almost apple shaped. One most interesting thing about these cats is that all the kittens are white in color when they are born. The coat that covers the body of cat of this breed is short haired. As they grow up, the coat shows up gray colors and some other dark markings, especially on the back. The tails of the cats of this breed are of medium size. You may come across these cats in blue, fawn, lynx, chocolate, lilac and seal points.

If you are looking for a cat that is sweet tempered instead of being short tempered, Snowshoe cats are just the right breed of cats as your pet. They are energetic by nature and sweet tempered by behavior. They are also very intelligent. These cats are also characterized by their playfulness which they not only enjoy, but also let you enjoy. What is even more interesting is that they are quite vocal at times. They are adaptable also. The more time you spend with them the more social they become. They are very sociable by nature. So much so that you may find them feeling hurt or grudging if you leave them alone for a certain period of time. They are very friendly not only with their masters or the mistresses but also with the elderly persons. Rather, they are friendly as well as loyal to the children and even to the other pets. It is suggested that you should make proper arrangements for the cat so that it never feels companionless.   

The Snowshoe cats are known to be healthy with apparently strong paws. They do not have any kind of health problems that are inherent in them. No health problem has also been heard of related to the Snowshoe cats. There is even no chance of any disease arising at the later times. You need not bother much about the food habit of these cats since their food habit is not very different from that of the other cats.
